Arcadia Lake, on Route 66, and on the outskirts of Oklahoma City right in the middle of the United States, will be home to the inaugural Beach Sprint Rowing Festival this summer. The event will feature three days of training clinics from 26 to 28 August, following by the University of Central Oklahoma’s boathouse on the lake, followed by a regatta on 29 and 30 August.
The festival is timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence (4 July, 1776), and it’s location in the heart of the country aims to expand interest in beach sprint to areas a long way from the coast (the sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are more than 700km away).
