Beach Sprint rowing will debut as an Olympic sport in Los Angeles (in summer 2028). The newest and most exciting rowing discipline was first imagined in 2011, and its first actual race took part in 2015. Its journey to the highest level of world sports has taken place probably faster than that of any other Olympic discipline…
But just a few years out it still remains a relatively unknown quantity to a large majority of its potential athletes, coaches and fans. Search for BEACH SPRINT online and the results remain limited. Its best athletes and coaches are relatively unknown, barring those that have made the switch from previous flat-water Olympic achievements, and it is still in a rapid process of discovery and experimentation as teams search for the secrets to success.
Wild Rowing* aims to change that, seeking out and telling stories about this newest version of one of the world’s most ancient sports. We welcome ideas, tips, contacts and collaboration.

*If you are returning to this site having been part of our journey up until 2024, you’ll know that we originally launched several years ago with the goal being to create camps and training opportunities focused on both beach sprint and coastal rowing. We’re now pivoting into a different role to fill what we believe has been a critical gap. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this ride so far.
