Málaga’s World Champions Launch the Spanish Beach Sprint League

A new Spanish beach sprint league, sponsored by Filippi, begins tomorrow in Málaga, Andalucía. The city is a fitting place to hold the league’s first ever race: it is the hometown of rowers that have been responsible for five of Spain’s total of 11 world championships so far.

A total of 130 rowers representing 12 different Spanish clubs will compete in the first round of the league. The local world champions on the starting line will include Teresa Díaz (CMix4x+ in 2021 and 2022), Adrián Miramón (CM1x in 2019 and 2023), Javier Madrid (CMix4x+ in 2022) and Marcos Delgado (U19 CM2x in 2022)

After Málaga, the league will head to Donostia/San Sebastián, site of the 2022 European championships, on 9 May, Cambrils in Cataluña on 13 June, and Spanish national championships 7–9 August (location to be determined).
