The Czech rowing federation has announced a list of 26 rowers invited to attend a beach sprint training camp from 5 to 9 February. Among the athletes called up is a trio of rowers who competed at the 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals: Lukas Krizek, Adam Perout and Magdalena Vlastnikova (who won bronze in the U19 women’s solo). But they are outnumbered by a group of medalists from the 2025 U23 World Championships. Frantisek Novotny, Matej Smejkal and Makim Kalina are silver medalists from the men’s eight, and Veronika Buresova, Alena Dankova and Hana Volfova are gold medalists from the women’s eight.
The camp will be run by rower-turned-coach Jan Fleissner, who represented the Czech Republic on the water from 2016 through 2025. Fleissner has a long record of flat-water competition and raced in the men’s singles at Tokyo 2020. Over the last few years he began to switch across to beach sprint, racing in the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
