Magdalena Lobnig Wins Filippi Gold And Spain Sweeps Men’s Podium

The final of the women’s solo in the first stage of the 2026 Filippi Lido Trophy was a match up between two Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games medalists. Italian Federica Cesarini won gold back in 2020 in the women’s lightweight double, while Austrian Magdalena Lobnig took bronze in the women’s single. This time around, in Mondello, Italy, Lobnig, the 2024 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals champion in the women’s single and last year’s runner up, sealed victory.

In the men’s solo, a trio of Spanish world champions swept the medals, with Miguel Salas beating Ander Martín in the A final and Adrian Miramón taking the consolation in the B. Salas won the world championship in the under-19 men’s double in 2021, while Martín won in the mixed double in both 2021 and 2022, and Miramón in the men’s solo in 2019 and 2023. The battle for Spain’s single men’s qualification spot for LA28 is sure to be tight.
