As the country with the best all-time record at World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals (11 golds, 8 silvers and three bronzes), Spain’s beach sprint trials over the next two years are certain to be highly competitive. This weekend, beginning today, 97 rowers from across the country will be in La Línea de la Concepción, in Andalucía, fighting for a total of 24 possible places in the national team (as many as 6 spots in each of the categories of under-19 and senior, and male and female).
Among the participants from the regions of Andalucía, the Basque Country, Valencia, Galicia and Murcia will be eight current or former world champions. That list includes Adrián Miramón (CM1x in 2019 and 2023), Miguel Salas (U19 CM2x 2021), Teresa Diaz (CMix4x+ 2021 and 2022), Ander Martín (CMix2x 2021 and 2022), Esther Briz (CMix2x 2021 and 2022), Marcos Delgado (U19 CM2x 2022), Javier Madrid (CMix4x+ 2022) and Ignacio Ramón-Borja (U19 CM1x 2025).
