Rowing, in the form of beach sprint, will feature for the first time at the 2027 European Games, due to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 16 to 27 June next year. This will be the fourth edition of the Games, organized by the European Olympic Committee and held every four years since 2015. And similarly to beach sprint’s debut at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games later this year, it will be another example of the discipline creating new opportunities for its parent sport.
The European Games will be held just four months before the 2027 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Oeiras, Portugal, and may be a key opportunity to prepare for those crucial world championships and for the Olympic Games a year later. Oeiras 2027 will serve as the first qualification regatta for LA28.
