Australia Appoints Tokyo 2020 Champion Spencer Turrin as Beach Sprint Coach

Rowing Australia has picked Spencer Turrin to coach the country’s beach sprint team in the lead up to LA28. His appointment aims to bring in a coach with deep knowledge of what is required to train and compete at the highest level.

Turrin won gold in the coxless four at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games plus two world championships (Sarasota 2017 and Plovdiv 2018) and a handful of other world championship medals all in the same discipline. He switched across to compete in the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals over the last two years, racing in the mixed quad in 2024 and the men’s solo in 2025.
