While the International Olympic Committee recently lifted restrictions on Russian athletes that had prevented them competed under their own flag, World Rowing has decided that for now they may only compete as individual neutral athletes.
The Russian news agency TASS reported that World Rowing confirmed that there will be no changes to its existing system for Russian athletes, announced back in February. That system opened up competition to rowers from Russia, but only when competing neutrally.
