Real Club Mediterráneo added another title to its trophy case on Saturday, picking up five gold medals, six silvers and two bronzes (out of a total of just six events) at the 2026 Andalucían Beach Sprint Cup. The club has historically been one of the most successful in beach sprint, and while this regatta was taking place, two rowers who came out of RCM’s development program—Adrián Miramón and Teresa Díaz— were competing for the Spanish national team at the Long Beach Sprints in California.
The Andalucían race incorporated several rowers from the Murcia and Valencia regions, who traveled to La Línea to gain valuable additional racing practice ahead of Spanish national championships in August. While these athletes were able to compete all the way through the finals stages, their results didn’t count towards the cup’s medal table.
La Línea will next host Andalucían beach sprint championships on 1 and 2 August, and then the European beach sprint and coastal rowing championships 16 to 20 September this year. While the city has organized many regional and national beach sprint regattas, those continental championships will be the biggest it has held event yet.
