Rowing Ireland Requires Power Profile Erg Tests Ahead of 2026 April Trials

The Irish rowing team will use power profile testing completed on the erg to determine which athletes will be invited to its open trials at Lough Rinn on 4 April. The second, obligatory, round of these tests must be submitted by 2 February. (The previous round was not mandatory, and athletes that didn’t submit those tests can still proceed.)

Rowing Ireland advises the four different distance erg tests be completed over a period of four or five days. A suggested protocol being:

  • Day 1: 10k, low intensity (not tested)
  • Day 2: 100m test; 20 minute rest; 500m test
  • Day 3: 6k test
  • Day 4: 2k preparation row (not tested)
  • Day 5: 2k test
