Iconic manufacturer Empacher announced an agreement with Spanish firm Rubenetti in June to collaborate in the design and construction of Empacher’s first beach sprint boats. The deal officially marked the German boat builder’s first step into rowing’s newest Olympic discipline, where key rival Filippi has so far dominated. By teaming up with Rubenetti, however, Empacher will be able to leverage more than a decade’s coastal rowing experience.
The new Empacher beach sprint fleet debuted at a regata in Alicante, Rubenetti’s hometown, on the weekend of 6-7 December. The Empacher Cup was hosted by the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante.
