Editorial Policy

Independence

This site strives to be independent and to produce unbiased content. As a general rule, we don’t accept payment or gifts to produce or promote specific stories. In cases where that line blurs (for example, an external party helping cover certain expenses in order to cover a story) we will endeavor to make this arrangement clear.

Sources

We aim to credit all of the key sources for our stories. This might not include, for example, every Internet site used to research a story, but would include providing credits for photography and interviews. In cases where a source declines to be specifically credited, we will explain that we have withheld their name.

Language

This site is written for an English-speaking audience, and therefore it is in English. Interviews or sourced information may have been translated from another language. In these cases, we may not provide the original language versions, or specify that content has been translated. However, if we deem crediting a specific source to be important, we will attempt to link back to the original language version.

Fact-checking and errors

We attempt to fact-check all of our content to reduce the possibility of errors. The success of this will depend on available sources to cross-reference against. If you encounter errors on the site, we encourage you to contact us, and we will endeavor to correct them as soon as reasonably possible.

Generative Artificial Intelligence

As a general rule, we endeavor to avoid all use of generative artificial intelligence algorithms. We view these as ethically compromised (the content they produce illegally uses work created by others) and negative from a creative perspective (the content they produce is derived from existing work and can never be novel). In cases were we decide to include AI-generated content (for example, in a story covering the use of AI), we will endeavor to clearly mark this content.
