Another of the USA’s most famous races, the San Diego Crew Classic, is turning to beach sprint. Last year, the Head of the Charles Regatta, launched a new competition, the Boston Beach Sprints. This year, the SDCC plans to run a demonstration beach sprint event during the first day of competition on Friday, 27 March.
The SDCC’s 2026 beach sprint event will include a workshop where rowers can learn about the discipline, an opportunity to try it out and an exhibition race between experienced beach sprint athletes. Next year, the organizers plan to incorporate beach sprints competition within the regatta’s official program.
