Rowing Ireland Reschedules and Expands Beach Sprint Trials

Ireland’s rowing federation has moved its beach sprint trials event to the first weekend of May, and is planning to run the process over two days so that it can handle the expected number of participants. The event will take place at Worlds End in County Limerick, and will be a water-only trial, without testing the beach running and transition phases.

Rowing Ireland had originally planned to hold an initial trials for its beach sprint national team the first weekend of April at Lough Rinn, but was forced to cancel due to extreme weather conditions. That previous date would have been used to trim down the number of aspirants for future trials, but as that was not possible, the federation has expanded the next trials and switched to a water-only test. The current list of eligible athletes, which span junior, under-23 and senior categories, contains almost 100 names.
